Press Release
Data Office Publishes First Eighteen Open Datasets
Office of the Spokesperson

The Data Office of the Velocity Interoperability Network today published the first eighteen datasets in its open data catalogue. The datasets are supplied by sixteen departments and network services and together contain some 2.4 million records, from the register of member organisations and the directory of departments to hourly air quality readings, weekly border crossing volumes and the schedule of court sittings.
Every dataset is published in comma-separated values format, and where the structure of the data allows also in a machine-readable object format, under the Network Open Data Licence. Each is accompanied by a description of its contents, the name of the publishing body, the frequency with which it is updated and the date of its most recent update. The full catalogue, and the schedule of the forty-six further datasets due for publication by 31 December 2026, is set out on the Open Data page of this site.
Datasets are published by the department or network service that holds the data, to standards set by the Office. Bodies wishing to publish a dataset through the catalogue should follow the publication steps set out on the Data Standards page. Questions about a particular dataset may be sent to contact@data.gov.vin and will be passed to the publishing body where necessary.
