Data Office of the Velocity Interoperability Network Established

The Data Office of the Velocity Interoperability Network has been formally established. The Office is responsible for the publication of open data by the departments and network services of the Network, for the register of their data holdings, for the standards to which data is published, and for handling requests for data that has not been published.

With its establishment complete, the Office today launches its official website at data.gov.vin. The site carries the open data catalogue, the register of data holdings, the data standards adopted by the Network, guidance on requesting data and on the licence under which published data may be reused, and the Office's press releases and official statements.

The publication of the first eighteen open datasets, the opening of the data request service and the adoption of the Network Open Data Licence and publication standards are the subject of separate announcements published today. General enquiries may be sent to contact@data.gov.vin.
